The world is your oyster as they say! As we already mentioned how to us Flashpacking is all about how you travel, rather than when or where. That said, in order to Backpack in style for a long time, some destinations appear more favorable (read cheaper) than others, unless of course you have plenty of cash.

A luxury day in Indonesia (Bali apart), Poland, or Philippines for example would probably cost you less than your average day at home, especially if you live in an expensive city like London. A rule of thumb is of course to avoid all main cities and main tourist destinations. In a small city in Italy you can really get close to the culture (something a real Flashpacker is always into) and have real Italian food for a fraction of what you would pay in Rome.

Low seasons are great too, as they allow you to get good hotels/hostels for very reasonable prices and an almost tourist-free place. Rain season in many tropical places means a refreshing hour with some shower rain after sunset and sunshine for the rest of the day. Still even in Bali, Indonesia, in low season you might pay less than half of the high season price; often you just have to show up at reception, something else you couldn't do during high season when all accommodations are fully booked.

Internet comes very handy in choosing not only where to go but when. Sometimes you just need to know the right time to go to your dream destination without spending a fortune and still traveling in style.

So again Flashpacking, even in fancy destination, is not only about having all gadgets or plenty of cash, but is about the know-how.
